| Myanmar Citizens visiting India |
| The Embassy endeavors to expeditiously
issue visas to Myanmar Citizens desirous of visiting India for
purposes of tourism and business. Visa applications are received
between 0930-1200 hrs and normally visas are issued the on the
same day between 1700-1730 hrs. Certain categories of visas,
such as for research, study and employment etc. require
reference to India and naturally, there is a longer processing
period. |
All visa application forms are to be
submitted in duplicate, with two recent passport size
photographs. For tourist visas, return air tickets are required.
For business visas, letter of invitation from India plus copies
of form 26 B & copies of Certificate of Incorporation of Myanmar
company are also required. All visa enquiries may be addressed
to Asstt. Consular Officer
The applicants have also to ensure that their
passports carry a minimum of six month validity
and have
at-least one blank page
for affixing the visa sticker.

holders |
Myanmar
Diplomatic and Official passport holders are exempted from
requirement of visa if the period of their stay/visit in India
is not more than 90 days from date of entry.

| Non-Myanmar Nationals visiting India |
The Embassy also accepts applications from
non-Myanmar nationals desirous of visiting India for purposes of
tourism and business. They will have to fill up the same
application form. However, reference to their home country is a
mandatory requirement. Non-Myanmar nationals will have to fill
up an additional forms which can be downloaded. After submission of Visa applications to the
Consular/Visa Section of the Embassy the non-Myanmar nationals
will have to wait for 72 working hours. Visa fees are charged on
reciprocal basis and details could be ascertained directly from
the Consular/Visa section. Non-Myanmar nationals will also have
to pay for telex/fax charges.

Registration requirement for all foreigners : Registration with the Foreign Regional Registration Office is
required within 14 days of arrival in India for visa valid for
more than 180 days. Failure to do so will entail payment of
penal fee US $ 30.00 (US$ thirty).

Currently there is no stipulation under the
Foreign Exchange Management Act which requires foreign tourists
or visiting NRIs to make payment in foreign exchange while on a
visit to India. Reserve Bank of India had issued Notification
No. 16 on May 3, 2000 enabling people in India to receive
payments in Rupees from foreign nationals during their visits to
India. |
As
per the guidelines issued by department of Telecommunication,
Govt. of India,(DOT) Inmarsat SatPhones excluding BGAN system can
be used by the Government, Corporate Houses, members of the
mountaineering expedition and other such categories with prior
permission from DOT. Thuraya SatPhone
service
is not
permitted in India. Anyone using any telegraphic devices
including SatPhone unauthorisedly violates section 4
of Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 and he/she can be penalized US$ 20 & 21 of the said act. Satellite Phones without licence by the DOT would be detained/confiscated,
as per the existing procedures till the time the holder of the
satellite phone is able to produce a licence issued by the DOT. |
