About IMCEITS

     Yangon, 17 Oct-With the excellent cooperation between the India and Myanmar and the efficient execution of the steps involved the India-Myanmar Centre for Enhancement of IT Skills (IMCEITS) was inaugurated on 16 October 2008.
     The basic objective of IMCEITS is to provide IT training to people of Myanmar coming from different sectors viz. education, government, etc. The Centre would facilitate the development of specialized skills among students (Undergraduate and Postgraduate), professionals, Government employees, and citizens, etc. in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT)and the growth in the use of ICT in various sectors of economy and governance in the country. IMCEITS would play the role of a Finishing School in Myanmar to offer industry ready professionals by imparting industry oriented IT training programme to the graduates of various universities.
     The inaugural courses at the IMCEITS would start with 8 batches of 40 students each for a course duration of 24 weeks (20 hours per week) and 4 batches of 40 students each for a 6 weeks (16 hours per week) duration course. In all 480 students would get admission into the inaugural courses at the Centre.
     The second important aspect of this project is the establishment of ten Community Information Centres (CICs) at different locations in Myanmar and to provide connectivity through VSAT of these sites to the central site at the IMCEITS in Yangon. This would enhance the penetration of ICT usage in rural areas in Myanmar. The CICs would be designed for three primary applications: telemedicine solutions, distance education programmes and general awareness programmes. The package provided under the MoU includes sophisticated equipments for telemedicine solutions also, which will enable the medical professionals sitting at the central site of IMCEITS, Yangon to carry out consultations with the patients or the medical experts at the other 10 CIC sites.
     IMCEITS would also have the capability to be utilized by the Government of Myanmar as the Centre for Disaster Management (CDM) and the Data Centre for making the data of interest to nation available for various department/functions like Census, Tax Department, Birth & Death Registration, Passport, National Identity cards etc.
